The European Atari Jaguar Festival, “ejagfest” in short, took place on November 4th and 5th of this year in Kleinenbroich (between Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach), Germany. We celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Atari 2600 this year which has been released in 1977 in the USA.

We celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Atari 7800 this year which has been released nation wide, 30 years ago in 1986 in the USA.

Due to the lack of vital third-party support for the Jaguar in the mid-nineties, Atari Corparation was forced to buy licenses of popular games to port them to the Jaguar. So Atari had licenses for famously games like Mortal Kombat 3, Batman Forever, Demolition Man, Brett Hull Hockey and some more. At Gamescom we find every year the latest and the greatest console an PC games. Not in the retro section which is an integral part of the exhibition for several years. Here was all attention focused on the classics.
August is Gamescom time. In 2015 Europes largest games fair took again place in Cologne. The ejagfest.de team was at each of the five days on site.
As an exhibitor in retro area we represented the ejagfest. The Jaguar could be tried out at several displays and we spoke to many interested visitors to introduce them to Ataris last gaming console. For our ejagfest blog we took some photos of the show and visited some press events.
Winnie Forster’s book “The Encyclopedia of Game Machines: Consoles, Handhelds and Home Computers 1972-2012″(2nd edition) is available since 2011. The german version of the Book was just released in a new edition (including the years 2013-2015), but the existing english version is still worth a closer look. Continue reading
